HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR

So, are you still working on your 2011 New Year resolution? We all make promises to improve ourselves at the beginning of each New Year. It has become quite a part of our New Year celebration and 2012 is not going to be an exception.
Today is the last day of 2011, and I have never been really good at making resolutions and sticking to them…but this year, I plan to make certain changes in my life.
The beginning of every year brings in new hope and enthusiasm. We look forward to a new beginning and hope things to improve from the last year. We like to forget about our pasts and its daunting memories and wish for a new start.
A lot of people are guilty of one thing in life, and I admit that I am one of them, living in the past. This might apply differently to each and every person out there, but generally speaking, ranging right from the trivial little things right up to the terribly traumatic life changing events, we’ve all experienced it in some way.
I’ve been through some hellish times in my life, and for a long time afterwards I found myself time after time, day after day, sitting there doing nothing but replaying the memories in my mind over and over.
There’s a reason why people always say that one shouldn’t live in the past, because it doesn’t achieve anything at all.

After spending some crazy amount of wasting time looking back, I saw everyone else carrying on normally, and I was stagnant, not accomplishing anything; I had no goals, no real reason to live at all.
One day I just decided that I had had enough of doing nothing, and I set about setting goals and reaching them. First they were small things and later they led to big ones. True, no matter how hard I try, I can’t change the past, but I can make a better future for myself.
So, this is a promise to myself, to make the best use of the new life I have been given, give all my love to my wonderful family, friends and to the one special person, who taught me to trust and love again.
You cannot change the past, but you can make your present full of JOY, by learning from your mistakes done in past.

Wishing you all A  VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR…...May it be full of happiness and blessings.

  4. Hello Alpana.
I don't think anyone can deny what you have spoken here, for it is indeed the truth.

No one ever said life's journey would be easy, far from it! I know my trials & tribulations this past year cannot possibly be compared to yours, but like you said, each happening, be it good or bad, has been a moment, a memory to cherish or not. We can never retrace our footsteps, but we can be careful where we plant them in the future. I believe every experience in life reveals something new about ourselves & I wouldn't want to change who I am as a result.

Thank you for this beautiful post & for all your encouraging visits/comments on my own blog this past year. It's been a pleasure "meeting" you.
I wish only the best for you & your family in 2012.

  5. Hello Alpana.
Having trouble posting my comment, so don't know if the first one went through.

What I said was I don't think anyone can deny what you have written here, for it is indeed the truth.

No one ever said life would be easy...far from it! I've had my own trials & tribulations this past year & even though I couldn't possibly compare them to yours, I do know each experience, be it good or bad, has taught me something about myself & as a result, I would never want to change them or me. We can never retrace out footsteps, but we can be careful where we plant them in the future.

Thank you for this beautiful post & for your encouraging words/visits throughout this past year. It's been a pleasure making your acquaintance.

I wish only the best for you & your family in 2012. See you next year! LOL

Reminds me of a favorite quote from Carl Bard: "Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending."

  16. hmmm...I think memories come back because they weren't resolved but once we start viewing it at a different angle ~ esp. with humor or forgiveness, then we could go on. They shouldn't be forgotten but accepted for what they are ~ they are done, dealt with and over. They cannot be changed but we always have an option to make things better :)

Loving you soul sis and embracing you and your past with so much hope.

A blissful love-filled year for you and Aishani :) God bless.

  18. the baggages of the past is where truth lies. The "truth" however, a pathless paths. In the search to find Simplicity, Truth and Love, the Trinity that many live for and would die for, oft, one does dwell in the past. In this particular issue I agree to disagree that the past is a gloomy place to live... its tiresome when you have to 'try' to let go certain memories of the past... its hard to forget yet convenient when we do not remember-the conundrum where every blessing is a curse in disguise and vice versa.
