THE KISS

THE KISS

His eyes were of darkness
Reflections from his soul
His heart had been shattered
Left broken and cold

He was a warrior
Fighting for what was wrong
He came to me one night
When he heard my soulful cry

Under the moon we met
Fell into an icy embrace
It sent shivers up my spine
Just to stare upon his face

He held me in his arms
Fighting against my will
Using his power to control me
All I could do was stand still

He kissed my lips
Sending fear through me
Making my mind race
As he watched my body

I looked into his eyes
Fire was what I saw
He saw right through
My helpless disguise

We stared at each other
Moving closer than before
He saw in my eyes
I was not afraid anymore

Once again he kissed me
This time I kissed him back
Two dark souls together
Both evil and black

  2. Very intense lines. You have been able to create a genuine poem out of a much written about topic.

  14. I can relate to this now! Only the last night I had my first 'mistletoe kiss'! a poem about it is forming in my mind this very moment! But, oh, but why that 'dark' in the end? I couldn't comprehend it.

  19. Unknowingly while writing the poem you seemed to have kissed Alfred Noyes 's "The highwayman".

But then that feel has been over-said over the years.

I liked your poem in parts. Liked it when you say:
He held me in his arms
    Fighting against my will
Using his power to control me
All I could do was stand still

    Quite visual & graphic.

But throughout the remaining poem I kept searching for a plot. A visual.
You seem overwhelmed with the concept of knight in shining armor. It shows when you say :

    He was a warrior
    Fighting for what was wrong
He came to me one night
When he heard my soulful cry

The moonlit night also makes your sets pretty Victorian. But the moon too remains passive throughout your poem. Expected a greater role.

am a poet myself. Not a famous one (rather an under-closet one). Thus I don't wait for ice-breaking when talking to another poet. Hope to comeback soon.

  20. Two dark souls together...just evil and black.

    I loved it.

I wonder if you know, that your pain, fury, hope and struggle actually come out in each and every one of your writings.

    I'm becoming a fan :)

  33. Hello.
WoW! This is intense. The souls might be evil, but when possessed by love, the light will shine through.
    Simply beautiful, Alpana.
    Nice imagery too.
    Thanks for sharing.

  34. Wow! That was dark and intense. The guy reminded me of Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights. Dark, handsome and something menacing about him. I guess one will become putty to be kissed like that. Beautifully passionate poem Alpana

  35. When someone writes an piece of writing he/she maintains the thought of a user in his/her brain that how a user can be aware of it. Thus thats why this post is great. Thanks!
