The Pain Never Goes Away…..Missing you my dear sister

The Pain Never Goes Away…..Missing you my dear sister ....24th February 2012

A year back,on this day, I found you in eternal sleep
I tried to wake you up
But all my pleas you could not hear
Only if I could have only kept you near
Away from the voices of those who went before
Who beckoned you to come to that distant shore

I find it so very hard to believe
That you have gone and I must grieve
I call out your name time and again
I fall down on my knees and begin to cry
For I never wanted you to leave my side
I wanted you to be with me for ever and ever
For you were my Sister and my best friend

Every trouble I went through, you were the one who opened the door
I lie on the ground crying more then ever before
And I look for you in every familiar spot
Everything seems so strange and surreal
I ask everyday is it a dream or real?

Where are the soft brown eyes of affection?
Where is the laughter and talk of childhood reflection?
Where is the loving care when I am sick or sad?
Where is the generous soul for which I was glad?
Where is the forgiving and understanding heart?
Where are the bonds that were there from the start?

I miss all the little ways you showed you cared
For there were so many good moments we shared
Looking back on my life’s assorted scenes
I realized you taught me what love truly means
You were my trusted confidante and best friend
On whose loving support I could always depend

Memories flood my mind as I touch the mementos
From the happy times you and I have had
But now these bring tears and make me sad
Can it be true what they say of time healing grief?
Is it enough when they say death has given you relief?

Can we believe what others say of a better place?
Where our beloved ones rest in God’s warm embrace?
I should be happy you’re free of pain and sorrow
How can I then be so heartbroken and selfishly cry
Return to me from that peaceful place where you lie!

Now I look down at your picture in a frame
That says little of the loving light you have shone
It tells nothing of the wonderful person you were
And only serves to remind me of the painful loss I endure

I promise not to forget the loving memories you gave
But still I miss you so very much my sister dear
And your caring words I once again long to hear
My heart’s only solace is one day I will see you as before
Beckoning me to come join you on that white distant shore…………

  3. My dear ALpana - I remember this tragic day last year and you are absolutely right - the shock and grief never goes away! But you must not say "where" cause she is always there - near you, around you, protecting you and being your sister as always. If you close your eyes and listen hard enough you will hear her talk to you. Be strong like you have been for the past year darling - you make us all very proud of you.

  4. I don’t believe the cliché that time heals all wounds. Dear Alpana, life will never be the same without your beloved sister. I lost a brother with whom I was close, and though it’s been years, the grief remains. Losing a sibling is like losing a part of your own body. There’s a great emptiness without their presence. But you are creating beautiful lines in remembrance of your dear sister, and in so doing you honor her, and even begin to heal bit by bit. Until you see her again, I pray that God will comfort your soul and fill that void.

  7. this wonderful loving tribute shows what a sweet person your deperted sister was and it also shows your love for her and how you miss her. Yes, such persons take away a piece of our heart when they depart and we have to continue to bleed silently inwardly. My prayers for the departed soul.

  10. Oh, Alpana, what a touching, heartfelt tribute to your beloved sister. Even though you know she is in God's embrace, it is only human to grieve the absence of her presence, to miss her being in your life.
My prayers and love are with you, my friend.

  17. My dear, sweet Alpana,
I am so moved by this post that I actually have tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. I feel your love and loss for your sister. I have three sisters of my own & I cannot imagine not ever having them in my life. I look at that beautiful photo and I can see your sister was obviously very important to you. She is gone, but the memory of her will live on in the children she left behind for you to nurture and care for. Love them with every ounce of your strength because they need you now more than ever. There will always be pain associated with your memories, but dwell on the good times you had...the laughter and the tears you shared as one. You are strong of heart and will get through this loss. Time is always our master Alpana and as the years go by, so your pain will gradually lessen.
Sending you all my hugs & love on this special day. May your heart be at peace. <3<3<3

I have four sisters and I have always dreamed of such a relationship as you describe with your sister, to no avail. Life is rich and confusing. I bless you, Sweetheart, as you move through your grief! XOXOX

  21. The spiritual afterlife is referred to in Hebrew as Olam Ha-Ba (oh-LAHM hah-BAH), the "World to Come"

"This world in we live is like a lobby before the Olam Ha-Ba. "Prepare yourself in the lobby so that you may enter the banquet hall."

The World to Come, as we believe, is a better place. A place where we find the full spiritual life. All of us one day we will meet there.

You have not lost a sister, you got a pure soul that awaits you in Olam Ha-Ba

    Peace (Shalom)

  22. So sorry to hear this. What happened?

I can feel the pain in your writing, and can identify with it. The loss of a near and dear one shakes us so badly... and what is worse, we cannot do naything to resist it.

  23. a sister is a special place of sharing, hearing, loving and caring. she is a WORLD by her own where one can release to share each and every moments of life. she is a MOTHER, by nature who nourishes our soul when we are in sorrow. her warmth is the best comfort at times of loneliness and distress. you miss that all, i know. nothing in this world can ever replace what you miss, but remember she is with you always. spiritually she has been with you and will be with you all through your journey. so, smile for all the beautiful moments you both have shared.

your poem is a wonderful tribute, a sister can ever have.
